Guy de Maupassant

I have a nice 1920s edition of his short stories. The man was as much a cynic as Twain but more morbid than funny. The cultural references are quite dated but most of the attitudes aren’t.

Nice writer, and glad to see it promoted, but I’ll be a little pedantic : in French, the name comes with the particule only with a title or when used with firstname – for exemple : Guy de Maupassant or Monsieur de Maupassant, but Maupassant. The only exception is the case of false particule, like De Gaulle (note the capital letter on “De”).
