ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 Series problem

My laptop video drive isn’t working. Attempts to re-install it failed, seems that the package provided by the manufacturer is somehow defective. Built-in video driver yields a dark screen with inaccurate tones. Any ideas on where I could get an older driver or some other solution to this?

By manufacturer – do you mean the laptop manufacturer? If so – you could check ati.com and see if they have a reference driver available.

This might be it – http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.aspx

In my experience ATI support is very good. Might want to ask them.

+1 to Al’s suggestion…ATI is much better in the support arena than is nVidia.

Unfortunately, I can’t be of much help, as I’m as tech-enabled as “Follow directions, call support if it doesn’t work”…

I don’t know if any of these will work, but this site has a collection of drivers: http://www.bravofiles.com/driver-ATI-Mobility-Radeon-HD-4650.html

I don’t know what operating system you are using, so go here:

Select your OS and be aware that the newest isn’t always the right or best. If you have a choice of drivers, start with the oldest and see how that works. If that works okay, then try the next newer and see how it works. If the older one was better then roll back the driver in My Computer/Properties(Right Click)/Hardware(Tab)/Device Manager(Button)/Display Adapter(Double Click)/ATI Radeon HD 4650 (Double Click)/Driver(Tab)/Roll Back Driver(Button). If the newer one works and there is a yet newer on…
