Substance and style

I think the appeal of lever actions is similar to the appeal of Steampunk and Victorian/Edwardian styles — functional enough to be useful, and intricate enough to be interesting. This one is a Henry carbine with really nice wood and mechanics.

I think that sums up lever actions very well. There’s something about the mechanics behind it that make it appealing, much like revolvers.

Plus, a couple of generations of American boys (and girls, for that matter) grew up watching The Duke, Chuck Connors, and a host of other Western stars dispensing justice with them.

  3. I recently purchased a lever action 45 Colt. I’m looking forward to shooting it this Monday.

  4. I’ll probably be buying a Henry H001Y fairly soon since 2 of the 3 kids are left eye dominant.

Not really a fan of plastic sights though. hmmn…

I like the girl and the rifle. As a kilt wearer, I also like that sporran she is wearing as a side pouch.
