Quoted on Voice of Russia

Recently, I responded to questions from a journalist writing for an English-language publication there. The article, Gun Controlling Your Children: a Family Affair just came out. Technically, it has several phrasing and factual errors but the overall tone and the amount of space given to pro-RKBA views is encouraging.

As others (Neil Smith? Neil Schulman? Stephen Halbrook? I forgot) have pointed out, the statistic quoted in the opening paragraph is grossly (and almost certainly deliberately) misleading. A 19 year old human is not a child. And by using that kind of age limit, they include the large fraction of the total that is gang crime.
An honest statistic would look at accidents, and would use a more reasonable age limit for “child” (like 14 or so).

That and “Constitution grants” one — but they were directly quoting an anti source, not stating it themselves. You can post the corrections on their site.

I figured they were quoting, but still, it’s unfortunate to see them use such horribly biased and intentionally misleading information. Presumably the intent was to illustrate why they wrote the article, and I would think they could have done that with a quote from an honest person.
