    ..Yeah, if I want a .50 cal pistol, what’s wrong with a S&W500 or a BFR, again?

S&W .500 Mag can be had for ~$1.60/rd. I could shoot longer before going bankrupt. Or I can just stick with .45ACP. .50GI seems to be a solution in search of a problem (I haven’t heard about many .45ACP JHPs failing to expand in any situation a different caliber *would* manage to expand.

This one shoots like a 1911 in 45ACP, but the bullets are bigger.

This one falls into that wonderful category of “because why not?” That or it’s the answer to those who have claimed the reason they carry a 45 is that “there isn’t a 46”.

I won’t be rushing out to buy one, but it’s nice to know that people are building such things.

If the only reason to design something new were because of some pressing, pre-existing, agreed-upon need or demand, we wouldn’t have had any new firearm or cartridge designs for the last several generations. You could get along juuuust fine today with your great grandpappy’s 30-30 Winchester Short Rifle, 45 Colt revolver and his spanky new 1949 Ford, but that’s not the point is it?
