Seven pounds? That’s pushing the weight of some heavier caliber rifles. The M1 30 Carbine with Beech stock and M6-S optic mount; 5.7 pounds. The reciprocating mass of the M1 Carbine I weighed here is 11.68 ounces, not counting the spring and guide rod. If the J68’s recip. mass is 18 ounces, the difference in recip. mass is only 6.32 oz. meaning there’s a lot more weight elsewhere, meaning a blow-back 9 with a heavy bolt could still be pretty light.

It’s all about what you want, and different folks want different things.

They definately got it right when it comes to using Glock Magazines. A pistol caliber carbine should take the same magazines as some common carry pistol, preferably double stack, so they nailed that one.

If you’re using carbine-specific loads however, you’ve thrown out one of the reasons for having a PCC; total interchangeability with your pistol. That’s at least two reasons in one though; simplicity of inventory and total interchangeability. If you’re going to use different loads in the carbine and pistol, then you might just as well be using different calibers (you still have to segregate ammo). It could even be dangerous, in the case of working up a super hot load for the carbine that could chamber in the pistol by mistake. So no; find a load that works well in both guns and there you have it.

Honestly. I thought that was a mock up of a “first person shooter” video game or SyFy movie weapon when I saw it. I don’t own a Glock so…. The “mag” thing isn’t a selling point for me. It is very “retro”. Kind of 1950’s “space gun”. It is state of the art. In 1947. It looks for all the world like a “first round” design reject from the old Soviet Union. I get where they are trying to go with this . BUT. It offers nothing my Russian AKM won’t do cheaper/faster/longer/further and with the same tech. I live east of the Mississippi river , so I could forgo the desert tan paint. I know that painting guns “earth brown” to look all tacticool is the current fad and all……. I know “bullpup” is cool. But for a weapon like that made of riveted sheet steel and plastic it had better come in under 6 pounds and under $600.

So I looked this puppy up and found the following. It is north of 8 pounds loaded. Almost 9 with optics!! It shoots a 2.5 to 3.5 inch group at 25 yards. It costs $899. + tax. For a 26 inch long carbine that is as heavy as an AK with down range performance numbers that are not as good as a 4 inch 1911 shooting .38 super. ( average 1250 FPS with 9MM for that carbine) and only slightly better with +P. For that thing? In “9mm .40 cal. or .45 ACP”. SO. Lets review. For the price of a top shelf AK I can have a pistol caliber carbine with 1/4 (or less) the range , with the same weight as a loaded AK , that takes 35 to 50 dollar a pop magazines?
