Did you notice the brass cartridge stuck in his ear? A new kind of hearing protection, perhaps?

We shall not see his like again.

The ear protection was the same as used by uncle, a former DI. It is a live 45 ACP ball round. Lead is a very effective sound deadening material so I would they would work quite well. At least you always had them with you.

They would at least keep you ears from ringing quite so long. I know that from 35 years in a factory, only the second half with mandatory hearing protection, my ears ring at 3 different tones, in each one. Silence in the hunting woods is non existent, and I have to run a fan at night to sleep. Otherwise, the noise in my ears is too distracting. I tell everyone I know, that they need to protect their hearing.
