Three feet and five inches.

Swords have been around since 1600BCE. Pistols, including revolvers, since the early 1500s. Government efforts to restrict their use to the “right people” go back about as far. The “right people” are typically the members of the party in power. … Continue reading

M1911 in 7.62x25mm

(Updated August 24 with the link to much larger image) Considering how often I’ve heard people profess a desire for such a pistol, it’s surprising to come across such a gun for the first time ever. It uses 5 shot … Continue reading

Short M1911s

Inland M1 carbines back in production.

Inland Manufacturing is once again making M1 carbines done right: ladder sights with proper detents, round bolts, good reliability and accuracy. Had a fun shoot with them. They even fed Hornady red tip defense ammo which my own carbine won’t … Continue reading

Upgrading a rail-less M1911

Iver Johnson 9mm Eagle M1911 with a Recover grip/accessory rail combination. The original 9mm is the bottom pistol.  Changeover took about two minutes, the resulting grip is slightly thicker than the original and a little softer in the hand.

Smaller caliber and less magazine capacity? Not likely!

My new toy. Flush magazines hold 12 rounds of 45ACP, extended hold 14. This pistol is tighter than any custom 1911 I’ve handled.

A very tight M1911

I like the grip texture — subtle but conducive to retention on recoil. The pistol itself is made to rather close clearances and feels very tight. Original-style guide rod, crisp trigger. Made by Metro Arms.
