Well… It’s a cute toy. But at +2000$ a weapon ,with +30$ mag’s and +$2.00 a shot ammo (if you can find it). I won’t be wanting one. The other thing is that they are awkward and butt ugly for an over hyped .22 magnum. In fact I can see no advantage in the semi-auto variant of the FN Ps90 Vs. the PPS43 pistol I can buy at centerfire systems for under $500 that shoots ammunition that is just as “hot” , and one hell of a lot cheaper.
Ammo is about 50c per round. https://www.luckygunner.com/rifle/5.7x28mm-ammo
The rifle is around $1400.
PPS43 is nice, but don’t forget $200 to get the use of the stock legally. And no way to mount optics. Ammo costs about the same: https://www.luckygunner.com/handgun/7.62x25mm-tokarev-ammo
Sill More than a thousand dollars cheaper for the PPS 43. WITH the tax stamp. The price I quoted came from “Gun Broker”. 5 of them were for sale when I wrote that @ 2300$ or more each. I never buy ammo on line, so you got me there , and FN 5.7 is all but nonexistent in my local G&A stores. One store had ONE box at 45.00$ for twenty. Locally I have seen ONE rifle and ONE 5.7 pistol for sale. For the price of the rifle I could get TWO PPS 43’s and still afford the tax stamp on each pistol. For the hand gun’s price tag (1300$ retail BARE no extra) I could afford a PPS43, the tax stamp, magazines and MUCH ammo. So I Won’t be buying one any time soon.
And I don’t use optics on anything that shoots at targets under 200 meters. I don’t use reflex optics at all. I never bought into the red dot fad. I like Iron sights, and never saw 2000$ battery powered optics as an advantage.
I like iron sights, but am transitioning to non-magnifying reflex sights / red dots.
These seem to work better for me. My eyes are aging, and I recently moved to bifocals. It seems to simplify things for me greatly. Five years ago, I swore by irons. Now, I think red dots are real nice.
