Note about content inside article. Being convicted of a felony and even serving time in prison for it does not make it impossible for a felon to own a firearm later. The actor Sean Penn, many years ago, pled guilty to beating his then wife Madonna and served two years in prison for this. A convicted felon. But through Penn’s lawyers, he was later able to get his firearm owning restrictions lifted.

Wow – money and influence sure does change your options, doesn’t it ? Who’d a thunk.

  2. Read the whole thing, sir, and I’ve got to say, very cogent arguments you put forth. Quotable material throughout.

You can also accomplish that by proving yourself to have become a decent human being, capable of contributing to society after serving your time. I know a family where the dad murdered someone in his youth (if I remember correctly he was surprised while stealing but I might be confusing him with a different friend). He served 20+ years for it. Became a Christian, got a good job, married a wonderful woman, had 2 beautiful children. Many people testified to his rehabilitation so he’s getting his rights reinstated. He isn’t rich or famous. Just a regular guy who did a horrendous thing, knew his own life was over, still regrets it with all his heart to this day, is amazed that he gets to have a new life somehow, and realizes it’s his job now to protect his family – possibly from someone just like he used to be.
