I have a new USB controller. I do not feel confident digging inside my rather complicated workstation. Is anyone competent to help me with the upgrade available in Hermitage, TN this Thursday or Friday? I’d rather not drag the tower to a repair shop.

This a model of USB hub that mounts into an opening on the front and plugs into a connector on the motherboard? Or mounts in a slot in back and plugs into same?
It’s the card for the main board. I am trying to make the mouse work better…currently, it is intermittent and bad USB controller is one of the few remaining possibilities.
Plugs into one of the long white PCI slots? Is the connector about three inches long and attached to the bottom of the card. The USB slots present to an opening in the rear panel?
Trying to get an accurate idea of the piece of equipment going in. Installation is straight forward once you get the case open. I understand it can be daunting if this isn’t your usual wheelhouse.
Sorry, meant to ask this last message. The card doesn’t connect via a square-ish seven pin connector on a pigtail wire?
It plugs in directly and has four external plug-ins.

This is an easy one. E-mail me and we can set up a Skype call so that I can talk you thru the installation.
I’ll be glad to help.
If your device also requires power from the USB ports, you will need to plug in the power connector to one of the drive power cable ( the white four pin connector on the rear of the card.
If you have one good working usb port you can tri one off this devices http://m.staples.com/USB-Hubs/cat_CL162937
