  1. North says:

    I am so sorry.

  2. I was in the middle of re-reading Joel’s “Guardians of the Flame” series. About a week ago he answered a question about one of the books (to what movie one of the characters was alluding).

Several years ago he and I shared several panels at a local con.

    He will be sorely missed.

    My condolences.

  4. R. says:

He died too soon. I know stress is a killer, but still, it seems rather .. unusual.
People should die when they are in their seventies or eighties, not before 60.

It happens. I’m about that age (56, as of a few days ago). In my time I’ve known or known about more than one person who “just keeled over” dead, at an untimely age. Undiagnosed heart problem, usually.

Condolences to his wife and children.

  5. Steve Florman says:

I was saddened by this new’s, he and I had disagreed about element’s of the incident that later led to him being arrested. We debated it like responsable adult’s and agreed to disagree, I had expressed an intrest in meeting him face to face and sharing stories. He was very much his own man as well as being an advocate for the right’s of other’s, just the kind of interesting people that made this country. Fair weather and smooth sailing beyond the setting sun…
