I recovered one of the WWII German Mausers from a cache in Vietnam. Sure wish I knew the story behind that.
Didn’t Stalin ship a bunch of captured German arms to Mao? Going to Vietnam would be the next logical step to support the war of “national liberation” against the French.
The ex-German Mausers in Vietnam came from two sources – the USSR and France, both of which captured quantities of Mausers during WWII. The Soviets supplied some of their captured Mausers to China and Vietnam; the French used some of their captured Mausers during their war in Indochina and many were captured/abandoned when they withdrew.
The Chinese Army of pre-WWII was armed using German weapons as China was probably the greatest customer of Krupp. A lot of this weaponry made its way down into Vietnam after the communists took over.
The French War in Indo-China was a strange one. It was fought using German soldiers who had joined the Foreign Legion as they had nowhere else to go, and used USA materiel left over from WWII.
Non-mechanical pop-up target for Garand rifles.
There were many things wrong with the Nazi high command, the politically-connected generals, and the Waffen-SS. The Wehrmacht, however, were mainly worthy adversaries sacrificed in an unwinnable cause. My father met many former soldiers when we were stationed in Germany in the early 1950s. He always treated them with respect.
Oh, no question: the average German soldier was a skillful and brave adversary.
Hence, they made good targets.
We sent some German POWs to Texas during the war. They were remembered fondly, as many worked outside the camps with local farmers.

“I learned the meaning of freedom in a prison camp. I never knew what America was like before I was a prisoner,” says Erichsen, co-founder of Los Niños International Adoption Agency with his wife, Jean.
Some also got sent to Alaska, teaming metropolises including places Excursion Inlet. Guarding was pretty minimal – the first few to escape came back a couple of days later, covered in mosquito bites, after spending a lot of time in trees escaping from brown bears. They saw far enough from the mountain tops to realize there was NO PLACE for them to escape TO, and any attempt would be fatal, so the rest of the war was pretty relaxed.

That is decidely haunting, Oleg. Almost as much as the picture boy of the Volksarmiee with his Stg-44 .22lr clone you posted a while back.
This is one of the best shots I’ve seen since I started viewing your blog. Determination and desperation.
I estimate her work for many years Mr. Volk.
They are the right on weapons concerning on the side of the truth and the right, why are they with the subject a history and racial conflicts on the part of the liars?
If she should entitle to a picture so also an Aryan in the picture be to be seen.
Greetings from Germany
For some reason this post’s title brings immediately to mind the Spike Jones classicIn Der Fuhrer’s Face
Are we not he supermen Aryan pure supermen
Ja we are the supermen (super duper supermen)
That stare!
