Shotgun training needed in Chattanooga, TN

A friend just got volunteered to represent her company in a clay shooting tournament August 17. She’s shot rifle and handgun before but not shotgun.

Who could assist her with learning the basics of shotgun on moving targets — in time for the tournament?

I just moved from Chattanooga back home to SC a couple of weeks ago so I could not offer much help however their is a pretty nice skeet range on top of Mowbray mountain. The people there are very nice and im sure they wouldnt mind showing her the basics. The range is located on Mowbray pike about 3 or 4 miles past where the country store is at the top of the mountain. Its actually a Soddy-Daisy address.

The skeet range Cory mentions is Montlake Classic Clays, and they would be perfect. My wife was in a similar situation (has shot rifle / pistol, no shotgun), and I bought the two of us a “familiarization” lesson with the shotgun. The instructor was Craig Sheaffer, and he was very knowledgeable and patient. Highly recommended – their contact info is http://www.claytargetsonline.com/club.php/1699

One note: Thursday through Sunday is when the range is open, but they prefer to do private lessons Monday through Wednesday. Definitely worth a call. If anyone can get her up to speed, I think Montlake can 🙂

I have shot a shotgun just not at a moving target, I don’t know the game. If it’s got a trigger I’ve prob shot it at some point in time. 🙂

Is it going to be sporting clays, or tactical type moving targets?

Never mind…just reread and saw it plainly states “clay”…

She will love Sporting Clay’s, lot’s of shooting and all of the folk’s I’ve met shooting Clay’s were great folk’s. If that’s her in the picture and she has a positive outlook and is willing to try everyone will bend over backward’s to help her.
