When I was ten years old, my dad said he would buy me a .22 rifle and asked what I would like. I told him a lever action or a slide action (a semiauto was not an option) because being left-handed it would be easier to shoot. He got me a bolt action (a Mossberg M142-A — still have it and shoot it regularly).

When I asked him why a bolt action he said “Son, it’s a right-handed world and the quicker you adapt, the better off you’ll be.” Best thing he ever did for me. While I do everything else left-handed I shoot right-handed — both long gun and handgun. And as it turns out, my right eye is my dominant eye so that worked out better too. Old man knew what he was doing.

I love the anachronism – modern rifle vs 1950’s or older fashion..

  3. Matt says:

That is classic fashion that never goes out of style.

But the rifle is named.. Operator.
    (sigh)

    Talk about aspirational advertising..

Why can’t they name say, RRA model 2013 mk 1 ?
    It’s concise and not tacky.
