This post needs a video.
I’d say I want one, but not to the tune of $6800. I’ll chip in for 1/10th of one.
Holy Crap! That exists?
Given that the Barrett semi-auto is even more expensive, that isn’t bad, although I wonder about accuracy with that short barrel. Still, as I told a friend a while back, the hell with long-distance. Penetration is what lights my fire, and you would have that, even if you couldn’t get more than five or six hundred yards worth of accuracy out of it.
BTW, I can’t believe that young man is shooting that with only ear plugs in place. On the battlefield, maybe. At the range, never. I hope he was just posing for Oleg’s camera.
The barrel shoud be longer. Too much gas is waisted. And in regards to the lad with ear plugs, I can tell you that my hearing is already gone as the result of being shot at and blown up one too many times. The plugs are more than sufficient.
The barrel is already 24″ long. M107 has either 28″ or 20″, so this one is right in the middle.
How terrifying is it to be standing near one of those when someone is shooting it?
It’s not bad, at least outdoors. I tend to stand behind the shooter to minimize the noise, but being 30ft to the side is also fine.

Grip and trigger remind me of the HK VP70. Not a great look.
Accuracy is not a function of barrel length. Accuracy is a function of barrel quality, ammunition, chamber, and shooter—among other things.
Longer barrels are not more accurate. Longer barrels give you, (in some circumstances) more velocity, which may equate to continued accuracy at somewhat longer range. In some cases, shorter barrels, because they are stiffer by nature, are actually more accurate.
By design, this gun has a free-floated barrel with gas system not touching it. It is very accurate, definitely improving on the results from the short recoil systems like M107.
Great weapon! Has it been tested with Mk211? Should be a better DM rifle than a 7.62 NATO
Oh, forgot one thing: the bolt handle is reciprocating?
It does not.
Have you personally shot or seen this rifle shot? Any idea when it’s actually going to be in production and for sale to public ? Seems a tad strange that with all the hype since SHOT 2011 that not one demo video of it being fired seems to exist anywhere in the public domain. Kind of makes you wonder just how ready for prime time this puppy really is. Almost seems too good to be true.
Should be on sale by mid-July of this year. I don’t like firing 50BMG without suppression, so I took photos and video while my friends shot it.
Thanks for quick reply. To my knowledge you are first person to acknowledge publicly seeing this weapon actually throwing lead down range. I’m with you on firing 50 BMG without suppression. I personally use a AAC Cyclops on all my 50’s. Makes a big difference. BTW I’m a huge fan of your photography.
