A short but satisfying range trip

Full magazine at ten yards (185gr copper HP).

Earlier today, I ventured out to put a few rounds through a Guncrafter Industries Model No.4 — a .50GI longslide. The full review is slated for publication in American Shooting Journal. In sum: it’s pretty nice luxury to have. Combined with the mild Spring weather — pure enjoyment.

Evie Jones and the Rocky Roulette: new from Amie Gibbons

Evie Jones and the Rocky Roulette is Amie’s newest novella about the witchy amateur detective. Under the guise of urban fantasy is a political commentary with a bit of humor and a dash of romance.

Why won’t Photoshop update or Creative Cloud run?

I have CC2014 on my laptop running Windows 7 and a subscription to Photoshop CC. Trying to either get updates or to run Creative Cloud app produces no result at all. Neither launches, and no error messages come up. Any suggestions on getting my laptop up to date with Photoshop CC?

Thanks!

Tryce Welch, a hero, passes

Tryce was a hero to many, starting with his granddaughter Alexis. He was her PaPa, the role model, the first and foremost supporter and the best friend. He had hoped to make it another ten years to see Alexis into adulthood, but that didn’t happen. Instead, he died taking her to training. True to her upbringing, Alexis was able to take control of the truck after the first collision and bring it to a safe stop.

Now we, her friends and fans, are trying to figure out what can be done to fill Tryce’s formidable shoes. While plans for fostering Alexis are being considered, we are raising funds to help with funeral and medical expenses. If you can, please help. Even if you can’t help with money, please promote this fundraiser.

That day arrived much too soon…

Tryce will be missed by his many friends, and even much more by his family. Alexis shaken but resolute, and we are confident that she will persevere with the help of the RKBA community.

A good read at a nice discount

My girlfriend Amie has a Leap year sale on one of her books, Evie Jones and the Shadow of Chaos. Something for everyone in it: romance, witch politics, possessed active shooter and more. Reader comments about other books in that series:

  • “I love the Evie Jones series, it’s a great unusual read!”
  • “This was a fun read. I was drawn in by the characters, especially Evie with her quirks and spunky attitude.”
  • “Evie is fun, smart, and hot stuff with a spell!”
  • “Fun and engaging heroine.”

Give it a try! The book is less than a buck tonight.

One of my models with her carry pistol

Full-size 9mm STI with which she also competes. BTW, she’s looking for a job or freelance work either in Mesa, AZ area or by remote.  In her own words:

Business analysis is my primary job, I’ve had a focus on turning around unprofitable divisions before. My last major position was running operations, which business analysis experience helps with greatly.

I also know prototype worthy mechanical design, I’m rather skilled at visual design, and have expertise level working knowledge in the automotive field and firearms. My background in both physical and information security makes me a perfect fit for either side of security related fields, and segues well into firearms as well as related items.

Let me know if you want a copy of her resume. She’s a brilliant, reliable person.

The main reason I like M&P pistols

They fit hands large and small.

Steve Fisher of Sentinel Concepts. His hand is just a little bigger than that of the learner Sophie. Both were able to use the same M&P pistol during the class.

Note, the photo below does not represent live fire. We trained as infantry, not cavalry or centaur pistoleros. It does show how well M&P9 Compact fit the hand of a 4’10” shooter.

Yesterday, I got to see how the longlide M&P9 Pro worked for an even tinier 8 year old Alexis. There’s no doubt in my mind that she can run it to good effect.

Defensive guns, in general, empower those who are neither big nor aggressive. With pistols like these, the contrast between the capability of the armed person and the incapacity of the unarmed are even more evident.
