Skin retouching tutorials?

Please advise on the most clear tutorials for working with skin textures? I’ve read several rather unclear guides on working with specific texture frequencies, would like to find something that’s easier to follow and implement.

Need contact info for MetaBones

I am using their adapter to run Canon EF lenses on Sony body. The locking between the body and the adapter is slightly loose and leads to loss of electrical contact from time to time. I emailed their support address, got no response. Does anyone have phone number for MetaBones?

(Update: reached MetaBones by email, they sent replacement mount).

Waste not

The knife handle is coyote jawbone. The club for seal hunting is petrified walrus penis bone.

Human parts aren’t generally used for crafts, but they make fine temporary display stands for arms.

Why not a longslide?

Tatiana Whitlock, instructor.

Nighhawk T4 in 9mm: 3.8″ barrel, 5″ height, 1.32″ width. Compact, with light recoil and good accuracy. Great for concealed carry. But it’s not being concealed here, which brings me to a practical question: “Why not a longer pistol?” Much of the emphasis on thin slides and shortness stems from IWB carry requirements.

8% taller, wider by a hair or two,  about 17% heavier than the T4, but you get extra 2.2″ of sight radius and 10mm Auto ballistics over 9mm Luger. The main issue is length and it comes into play with appendix carry, not so much with hip carry. This longslide is riding on the belt of a 5’2″ female and fits just fine.

So the question is, why not the longslide? I can think of only one reason, and that’s the slight slow-down of the draw stroke with conventional holsters.

.45 caliber rifles

Big Boy in .45 Colt — excellent for getting used to larger bore long guns.

45-70Govt caliber works better on serious game, even if you only get five rounds before reloading.

It’s good to have a partner who can back your play.

Two bores are better than one for animals that don’t stop readily

In the long run, there’s no telling who will sport the bigger caliber.

What’s the situation in Puerto Rico now?

In June, Puerto Rico gun laws got struck down. What does it mean in practice for the island residents and visitors?

(The rifle is Henry octagon pump in 22WMR. The beach is on Vieques Island.)

Socializing with native troops

She looks in dire need of humanitarian aid, ear and eye protection. A 30mm grenade launcher wouldn’t hurt, either.

Superhuman senses.

She can hear better and tell bearing of the sound source more precisely with the amplified hearing protection. She can see in the dark with the thermal scope. And she’s definitely compensating with the Tavor for her inability to well-aimed throw rocks at targets 300-400 yards away.

Threaded Glock factory barrels for sale again

Last December, I posted about a batch of Glock 17 factory barrels threaded by a friend. They sold out, and now he’s making more available. I’ve used the one I got from him extensively and it has worked like every other Glock barrel — perfectly.

He has 13 barrels on hand now, they are $230 shipped, $12 more with thread protector. Domestic sales only. To arrange the details of the purchase, email Hermes at motionforwardtechnology@gmail.com

Busy time

Lots of visitors these days. Some haven’t changed much in five years, others grew up in just two.  Lots of new guns, too.

The guests socialize and share knowledge.

Learning the proper stance, practicing trigger control with dry fire. Also helping me set up rifles for maximum effectiveness.

A good role model for adults

At age 8, this young man can shoot Glock 17 (9mm) competently and safely. With this kind of examples in front of them, adults who are apprehensive about firearms might just realize that they aren’t difficult to operate properly. It might not be “child’s play”, but it is a sport in which even children can — and do — participate with enjoyment. Kids can quickly learn to use technological tools, like cell phones and computers, and firearms are far less complicated. For safety, adult supervision is necessary, but restricting shooting sports to age 16 or 18 and up as some countries do is counterproductive. Ignorance isn’t bliss.

Berthier 8x50mm rifle

Berthier rifle was a “brilliant” design that provided an en bloc alternative to the tube magazine in the 1886 Lebel. It used the same cartridge — three lousy rounds at a time compared to Lebel’s eight, but with much quicker reloading. The opening at the bottom also gave dirt a convenient path into the magazine.

Handloaded 8x50mm Lebel ammunition in a 3-shot clip. Factory ammunition used regular jacketed spitzer bullets.

Looks properly steampunk to me.
