Two is one, one is none. Photo retouching help needed.

I work with two retouchers. Just so happens that both are on vacation at the same time, and I could use the help. If you are interested in working with me, please let me know.

Girls just want to have fun.

Cimarron’s faithful (other than the caliber) copy of the original 1860 Henry rifle is an odd firearms. Loading it is rather unorthodox, the magazine follower is external and can interfere with the hold under the magazine. Lever movement makes holding by the receiver uncomfortable also. The sights are graduated to several hundred yards but the elevation required for long-range use makes a cheek weld almost impossible. It’s hardly a practical weapon…but it’s accurate, has minimal felt recoil with .45Colt and feels like the world’s biggest ballistic toy.

They grow up so fast

Years ago, I took photos of Michael Williamson‘s daughter, the actress Morrigan Sanders.

In the time that passed, her AR gained better iron sights and a 1.5×24 ACOG in place of the EOTech, but stayed pretty much the same otherwise. Care to guess how good she is with the gun that’s been in her hands since age eight or so?

If you shoot 357Mag for effect, get a Coonan

Full-power 357Mag recoil in revolvers is usually quite substantial. I tend to shoot 38Spl in mine unless carrying them, which I do very seldom. The Coonan, on the other hand, gives some muzzle flip but very minimal felt recoil. Shooting a box or two of full-power loads isn’t difficult, even though the absence of the cylinder gap gives its bullets slightly higher velocity than revolvers. It’s also extremely accurate. I carry mine from time to time. It gains about 300fps for the same bullet weight over 9mm Luger.

As you can see, a 5’1″ girl of 15 can control is without much difficulty.

Calling all readers in Chicago

A good friend needs a small service done in Flossmore neighborhood in Chicago. Would anybody near there be willing to do me a favor by helping him?

Hating’ on the pink guns?

Pink might not be “tactical” but neither is stainless…yet nobody has argued against that since the 1980s!

Shot placement and caliber matter. Color, not so much.

The revolver shown actually works very well.

Keeping cool.

Leaping up and down creates air movement and aids ventilation. An entirely difference principle than that of the Lewis gun shroud.

First focal plane option

For people who like FFP scopes for the ability to use a rangefinding reticle at any magnification, Primary Arms makes an inexpensive 4-14x. I took a photo of this one during the NRA show but I’ve actually used one for a while on my Anderson Mfg .223 rifle.

It has side parallax adjustment.

All that for $230.

Personal Independence

Obviously, providing for own safety is only one facet of independent living. Being able and willing to work, having interpersonal skills to navigate the social environment are other necessary components. Those skills, more than material inheritance, are what caring parents should impart to their kids. These are skills that are taught only slightly or not at all in public schools.

In fact, public schools are trying to eradicate not just the ability for self-defense but the mere thought of it. Brainwashing in the form of capricious, random enforcement of completely crazy, fetishistic rules against any kind of effective defensive tool, technique or even a mention of the Constitutional right to bear arms isn’t applied for the benefit of the students. It’s designed, consciously or not, to foster learned helplessness and dependency on authorities. Psychiatric treatment is then forced onto the kids who are merely reacting to a very unreasonable environment.

Of course, some inherited capital helps because it allows much quicker transition to full independence. This is exactly why the inheritance tax is one of the many ploys to foster dependency on government handouts. Instead of parents being able to help their kids, they lose funds to taxation and the government then doles out a small portion back — which always comes with string attached.

As an aside, I’d rather have this home-schooled teenager on my team than any number of adults. Riflecraft is just one of her many skills.
