Alfa Proj revolvers: new on AllOutdoor
An economical alternative to top brands.
Coonan .357 Compact
Regular 5″ Coonan autopistol may be concussive and flashy, but it’s a bit large for a small-framed person to wear daily. This compact 4″ version is even louder, brighter in the muzzle flash — and delivers a nice .357Mag punch.
Photos for publications
These images were all made for print magazines. Most were published, some were not — now you can see them all here. Czechpoint .357 revolver. Higher left hand position would have been nice. One reason to try to flee: handgun … Continue reading

For the pint-sized defender…
…a half-gallon hat and a Coonan Cadet. Pity this reduced scale pistol is discontinued for now, but it may come back in the future. It uses shorter magazines than the standard model but still holds the save seven rounds. The … Continue reading

Single action for the win!
Brookie sights a Coonan 357, while Alexandra squeezes the trigger on a Para Ordnance 45 and Allison racks her Para. We got wraparound Sawfly safety glasses to make sure that empties can’t enter from the side. Notice than none of … Continue reading
Why get a Coonan?
The most common comment made by people who tried it the first time has been: “It’s like shooting a laser!” I found it easy to make 50 yard hits on steel plates. I don’t work for them, I am just … Continue reading

Chiappa Rhino
Simpler in design than Mateba Unica semi-auto revolver, Rhino feels much better balanced. DA trigger is fairly smooth, single is odd (lots of take-up), fiber optic sights are easy to see. I didn’t have the opportunity to fire it but … Continue reading

Range time, rain or shine
Yet another downtrodden, exploited female in obvious distress.
Coonan .357 Magnum pistol in use
This weekend, I was finally able to get to the range and try the Coonan pistol. Bulk Ammo provided Fiocchi 125gr JHP and S&B 158gr JSP ammo, so we tried both. Both brands ran 100%. Accuracy was, to quote one … Continue reading

Coonan .357 automatic
Coonan | Sideguard | Larger photos My interest in Coonan pistols was accidental. John Paul of JP Rifles mentioned him and let me photograph an old one from his collection. I then had a chance to fire a current pistol … Continue reading
.357 Magnum in an auto pistol
While in Minnesota, I got to introduce Arne Boberg to Dan Coonan. Dan’s .357 autoloader is only fractionally larger than an M1911, holds the same seven rounds and runs either 38spl or 357mag. I was always curious why people liked … Continue reading
