Ready on the right?
Mike with AKSU74.
Chronograph and accuracy data
Sometimes measurements confirm what we expect. For example, S&B 115 grain ball flies at 1060fps from an HK P7PSP but speeds up to 1340fps from JRC carbine. But I had no idea that 1980s vintage .22 Short fired from the … Continue reading

Good weather makes range time that much better.
Rimfire STG44. Cutts compensator doing its job well. Mike, obviously compensating for something. (Photo by Mike Branson) Full report on Savage mkII-SR, JRC 9mm, STG44, Henry .22 and others coming a little later.
Getting ready for a big weekend.
I am planning two range days this weekend. Mostly shooting 22s, but a few larger guns are coming along. That means loading up magazines, too. How many rounds is that? Two full boxes, kindly provided by Lucky Gunner. The original … Continue reading
We don’t have to imagine a world without guns. Humanity already lived through it.
For those who wish to avoid gun violence in particular can always go to Burundi or Rwanda…the locals favor machetes there. Somehow, that environment doesn’t seem nearly as safe as the more firearm-friendly America. (Make-up by Tirzah Julius) A relevant … Continue reading

Horses for courses, or Canon vs. Nikon
I have used a lot of Canon and Nikon cameras over the years. My Canon line-up was T60 (yuck!), Elan and 620 on the film side, followed by 30D, 10D, 5D and 5D2. I also used other people’s 1Dmk2, 1DSmk2 … Continue reading
When zombies come, I want her on my fire team
The target was at about 20 yards when she fired on it. The zombie now has four more eyes-sockets in its skull. Special Delivery target | Walther P22 | TAC65 can The ear protection was against the noise made by … Continue reading

A model and a graphic artist
My favorite new model posted her edit of one of the recent photos. I like it.
21st century STEN?
Prop gun courtesy G4P, Micro T1 of Aimpoint.
A good fight in a bad cause.
Watching TSA, DEA, FDA and the rest of the alphabet soup agencies gear up their own little armies brings this picture to mind. Not the trained, well-fed and utterly self-serving bureaucrats who do evil for a paycheck, but the naive … Continue reading
Bella Ciao, now with greater range
I am continuing to have fun with the new rimfire STG44.

Shotgun training needed in Chattanooga, TN
A friend just got volunteered to represent her company in a clay shooting tournament August 17. She’s shot rifle and handgun before but not shotgun. Who could assist her with learning the basics of shotgun on moving targets — in … Continue reading
Almost like cheating.
Savage MKII-SR with Primary Arms 4-16x scope and Gemtech Alpine sound suppressor. Very much hearing safe. Finally zeroed it yesterday, with much running avoided by the use of the newly acquired spotting scope. 48x max magnification and clear optics meant … Continue reading

Details of yesterday’s photos: holstered PF9
One advantage of IWB holsters: they do not require a very sturdy belt.
The Guns of August
The most famous gun of August was a 1910 Browning. The less famous gun of April — the girl in the photo — is an 1896 Mauser. Though less well known than Gavrilo, I think she’s cuter…and easier on visiting … Continue reading
Calling all local reenactors
If you are a WW2 reenactor in or near Nashville, please chime in. I need help with a project requiring American and German characters.
SU16A light rifle
Light weight, long sight radius, clean piston action, folds up for transport — looks like a useful walk-about carbine. Keltec site still has the old photo showing a plastic front sight, but the rifle has been upgraded since.
