More about AR57
The location of the magazine limits the scope length, making prismatic design a natural choice. CTC laser is mounted as a backup sight because I view all rifles as possible defensive tools. The barrel is fairly thick and also fluted, … Continue reading
Theater seating and self-defense
(Image by okaygeek.com) People say that any hypothetical defender at the Aurora theater would have run the risk of hitting innocent bystanders. The risk existed but consider how typical theater seats rise rise towards the back. It’s the classic “second … Continue reading

AR57 upper
I borrowed this AR57 upper (in 5.7x28mm) from a friend specifically for the amusement of certain friend’s daughters. Both of his girls are left-handed, so the upper that has next to no recoil and ejects down through the magazine well … Continue reading

Viridian X5L RS installed
In case of civil unrest, rioters would be well served to stay away from people with rings on their fingers. A single person might choose to retreat, but those who can’t maneuver due to kids would be more inclined to … Continue reading

Taurus TCP738 with Crimson Trace laser in a Dragon Leather holster
I am not a fan of driving long distances by myself. So the opportunity to ride to the NRA show with my friend Dennis Badurina was eagerly seized. He brought several of his holsters along and one of them caught … Continue reading

Springtach universal holsters
Hailey has two identical holsters in different colors. One has a Taurus 24-7 with Viridian X5L, the other M&P9 with Streamlight TLR2. Both can be switched from left to right hand configuration. An M1911 with a Surefire light would fit … Continue reading
Purple isn’t just for old women anymore
JRC carbine in “muddy girl” pattern, 33rd Glock magazine, YHM sights, Viridian X5L light/laser. Left thumb controls the light/laser switch.
Survival Lasers 300mW red kit — Tool or Toy?
At 2011 Defcon, it was literally a case of “oooh, shiny, me waaaant!” Several of my geek friends, including Meredith, had nifty blue and violet lasers that seemed much brighter than usual. Especially in smoky casinos, they left trails that … Continue reading
Universal light-compatible holster
One problem with carrying pistols with light/laser attachments is finding leather for them. Springtac offers a solution with their U-shaped IWB design. The leather conforms to the thickness of the pistol. Vertical position of the pistol is controlled by the … Continue reading
A friend’s rifle
YHM .308 suppressor on a .223 rifle with quick-detachable barrel (since he doesn’t own a .223 can yet), Magpul BUIS, stock and Ranger plate. Normally, he uses a CCA light foregrip, but I replaced it with Viridian C5 for my … Continue reading

Another 9mm option: Just Right Carbine
JRC was ostensibly designed as a traines for AR15 users. The manual of arms is much too different for that, but it seems quite useable as low-recoil home defense guns and for those who like “cowboy logistics”, the commonality of … Continue reading

Varmint control device
Ruger 22/45 mk3 with Gemtech Alpine suppressor, Primary Arms green dot sight and Viridian C5L light/laser. This belongs to a friend. Entirely coincidentally, squirrels and other rodents around his house have a very high rate of sudden heart attacks.
