Why I always insist on eye protection at the range
Lucky Gunner folks tested a whole bunch of eyewear. Their results were surprising to me. That said, even the junkiest of the safety glasses would turn away gas, so wear at least something — but preferably a high-end pair.

Confirmation of effectiveness
Just got a note forwarded to me by Keltec about this web banner: “Your ad performed the best.” And the opinion of the marketing firm: “The top performing 300×250 ad is (shown above). I think the guys like the girl … Continue reading
Opinions requested.
I’ve had the good luck of working entirely with companies who pay promptly for work done. The sole exception was a client last year who requested and received a 30-day extension of payment before the contract was signed. The project … Continue reading
Two movies in one day.
I have not gone to the movies in a very long time. Today, I ended up watching two in a row. First was Brave 3D, which I very much recommend. The trailer for it did not do the movie justice. … Continue reading

Advantage Tactical Sight update
Installed that barrel on a 12ga 870. It points just about perfectly, just need to verify zero with slugs.

Going through the mail bag…red dot magnifier
One thing I love about travel is that I usually come back to a whole bunch of new toys in the mail. Put these together and you get a swing-out magnifier for red dot sights. Could be useful around the … Continue reading
Same brand, not the same image
If you click to zoom in on the images, you can see comparative prices (19.5 Czech Crown = 1 USD), though local salaries are a bit lower than the US also.
Number of states vs. the degree of control.
The number of countries in Europe in 1875 – 18 (if my count is correct). In 1914 – 23. In 2012 – 44. I wonder if the degree of state control over individuals has grown or declined. In the US, … Continue reading

Riots vs. pogroms
I hear quite a few worried comments about the possibility of civil unrest in the US. Looking at the precedents, I see three directions it could take: riots, pogroms and freelance criminal activity. The latter, individually perpetrated crime, is what … Continue reading

An excellent range day
For once, I went to the range without a camera. With several guns to fire in a limited time and poor lighting available, I concentrated on having fun. We set up at 25 yards and played for a while. One … Continue reading

Keltec SU16 in use
As I’ve mentioned before, SU16 is one of my favorite light rifles. It’s a clean-running, lightweight piston gun with good accuracy. It’s very simple, has mild recoil and can be customized extensively. SU16 works well suppressed. It’s main down side … Continue reading
[vacancy closed] Who wants to share a hotel room with me for the NRA Convention?
A friend transferred a reservation at the Hilton to me. It’s a 10 minute walk from the Convention. The cost of $125/night (plus applicable taxes) for April 12-15. I reason that the proximity to the convention is worth the price. … Continue reading

What would you do to be free?
If the goal is to avoid indignities great and petty, how does one become more free? Not minding them is one way, but learning to ignore evil doesn’t free us or our beloved from its pysical manifestations. Spiritual freedom does … Continue reading
One component of being free.
After years of thinking, I may have figured out which aspect of life makes a person feel un-free. It’s the frequency of having to perform submission rituals. When a feudal lord rides by peasants and they have to kneel in … Continue reading

A shout-out for my friend Shawn and his company.
Similar manual of arms
One major advantage of AR15 platform is the number of calibers and configurations that all share the same manual of arms. At first glance, MKA1919 appears to be another AR15, but appearances are deceiving. Internally, this 12ga shotgun is most … Continue reading
