Why get a Coonan?

The most common comment made by people who tried it the first time has been: “It’s like shooting a laser!” I found it easy to make 50 yard hits on steel plates. I don’t work for them, I am just … Continue reading

Defend the castle!

Recently, police have been involved in what looks like murder in the course of home invasion and murder with intimidation of witnesses and press. At this rate, I expect the distinction between the ordinary Ordnungspolizei and Einsatzgruppen to become insignificant. … Continue reading

A mix-master AR15

When a rifle isn’t handy, a tshirt referencing it keeps a body warm. Much to the disappointment of some readers of this blog. For those who have a leather fetish, both the holster and the belt are by Galco. Judging … Continue reading

Ironic…

Justice Ginsburg was the only once against the recent trashing of the 4th Amendment. Who would have thought…and, conversely, why is Thomas suddenly siding with the oppressors?

Оружие вмв в руках нашего современника

Один из лучших авторов военной прозы, Вадим Полищук, написал статью про стрелковое оружие Второй Мировой. Весьма дельно, на мой взгляд.

Kills on one end. Pushes a little on the other.

458 SOCOM approximates full power 45-70 Govt. external ballistics. Anyone who’s fired 45-70 in either a lever action or a bolt rifle knows that the recoil is quite substantial. 458 ought to be as brutal except that it’s used primarily … Continue reading

Another emu

Ever since my famous emu photo taken back around 1999, I’ve tried to improve on it. Since I am no longer crazy enough to do such pictures with a wide angle lens held just inches from the bird, the results … Continue reading

Olympus Pen E-PL2 records video without sound. Why?

Just recorded a music performance using friend’s E-PL2 camera. None of the video files have any audio data at all! Any idea why? I searched on-line for answers but only found people raving about how great the audio is.

Olympus E-PL2 first impressions

Just borrowed that camera with 20/1.7 lens from my friend DDB. First impressions: User interface is very awkward. I had to read the manual in detail just to figure out manual exposure. AF is very good. Face recognition and tracking … Continue reading

At the Lucky Gunner shoot, I got to see an awesome set of gun-leather made for Say Uncle by Michael. Both Michael and his wife Jennifer wore holsters of his making, and they stood up very well to the wear … Continue reading
