Mystery gun muzzle.
Guess what kind of firearms this is.
Home invader repellent.
If courts don’t stop no-knock home invasions, bullets and other means would have to. Given the extreme danger posed to lawful people by violent police invasions, it’s no wonder many households have moved from shotguns to rifles for defense. The … Continue reading

Good, quick, cheap — pick any two.
Most .308 box magazines are relatively cheap, light, simple and hold 20 rounds. They work great for those who wear additional magazine pouches and have friends cover them during reloads. Drums are not cheap, weigh a little more and hold … Continue reading

Sterling type 2 semi-auto carbine
This is one of the few semi-auto arms I like as much as the select-fire original. It’s longer barrel (16″ vs. 10″) gives it a longer sight radius, and the two-flip aperture is more familiar than the quaint diffusion disk … Continue reading
“Home Defense” isn’t about homes.
Back cover for the new on-line Home Defense magazine. It’s another project of Delta Media, along with the United States Concealed Carry Association. Rifles shown: (left) left-hand Rock River AR15 with X5L light/laser and DSA FAL with a heavy barrel. … Continue reading

Why I like bullpups.
A .308 rifle with a sound suppressor, BUIS and a low-magnification scope weights quite a bit. Add to that a 20-round and this RFB weighs 13.2 pounds (6kg). M14 and AR10 variants with the same 18″ barrel length weight the … Continue reading

RFB: works well as configured
Finally had a chance to fire the RFB with the new AAC 762SDN-6 (and shorter piston provided by Keltec) and 1-4x Nightforce scope. What an improvement over the previous set-up! For one, the cycling of the gun is now softer, … Continue reading

Today’s range trip.
Grace wanted more trigger time with her laser-equipped LCR. Ended up trying that, S&W 317 and 63 rimfire revolvers, a quiet Walther P22, Kel-tec PF9-22, Star S (.32ACP quasi-1911), HK P7, Kahr P9 and the SU22 shown here. Star S … Continue reading

Anderson AR15 checks out
Mike Branson behind the rifle. I replaced the solid forend on the Anderson Mfg. 20″ rifle with a lighter ventilated Midewest Industries part. Today, I re-zeroed the rifle with the new Primary Arms 4-14x FFP scope. All four shooters took … Continue reading

Getting ready for a big weekend.
I am planning two range days this weekend. Mostly shooting 22s, but a few larger guns are coming along. That means loading up magazines, too. How many rounds is that? Two full boxes, kindly provided by Lucky Gunner. The original … Continue reading
We don’t have to imagine a world without guns. Humanity already lived through it.
For those who wish to avoid gun violence in particular can always go to Burundi or Rwanda…the locals favor machetes there. Somehow, that environment doesn’t seem nearly as safe as the more firearm-friendly America. (Make-up by Tirzah Julius) A relevant … Continue reading

SU16A light rifle
Light weight, long sight radius, clean piston action, folds up for transport — looks like a useful walk-about carbine. Keltec site still has the old photo showing a plastic front sight, but the rifle has been upgraded since.
Sturmgewehr
Had Brady Campaign and their ethically deficient ilk been around during WW2, they would have pushed for the disarmament of the guerrillas and other civilians…while turning a blind eye to massacres perpetrated by government troops and their pet paramilitaries. STG44, … Continue reading
