“Мочить врагов в сортире!” (“Wet-work the foes in outhouses!”)
Standard Russian injunction illustrated. Also works outside. Similar to the rifle from the previous post, but with a folding adapter in front of a Magpul stock, Aimpoint H1 and an even brighter 700 lumen Superfire light. Same Battlecomp, folding rear … Continue reading
Updating the light rifle
One of my colleagues stopped by. She didn’t bring any of her own rifles, but we borrowed a couple from a mutual friend. Start with a standard light-barreled Colt 16″ AR carbine. Add a Trijicon RMR on a see-through mount. … Continue reading

New on All4Shooters: Keltec RDB and M43 bullpups
Read the overview.
Photos from range day with Faxon
I promised photos. The gun runs at about 700rpm and remains controllable. Trigger is good enough for squeezing off single rounds in auto mode, though we shot 2-4rd bursts most of the time. Beta testing showed full compatibility. And, of … Continue reading
Light rifles and heavy
This rifle combines a GWACS Armory polymer lower and a Head Down upper. It is very light, and has little recoil — so little 13 year old Grace could get away with this shooting position. She was pinging a small … Continue reading
Short, handy, reliable enough for 3-gun competition
PLR16 pistol with SU16 rifle stock. Registered as a short-barreled rifle. Vortex red dot, Magpul furniture and Red Lion Precision forend complete it.
Tavor from the October bullpup shoot
16.5″ black version with Meprolight red dot and Gear Head Works forend (with Primary Arms weapon light). This light is currently on sale.

AAC flash hider and QD suppressor (M4-2000) Preparing to launch a 37mm smoke. The rifle is a Mossberg MMR with 4x Trijicon ACOG scope and a Primary Arms micro dot. Smith & Wesson M&P in 300BLK with Dueck Defense sights … Continue reading
Right rifle for left-hand shooters
RRA Operator-L with EOTech sight, X5L RS light/laser, Magpul 40rd magazine and AFG. The fashionable hat is from Henschel.
SU16
Kel-tec SU16 fills the same niche as the original Colt AR15: a lightweight but capable rifle that can go anywhere and not unduly burden the person carrying it. With 18.5″ barrel, it weighs less than an M1 carbine or even … Continue reading
A lady’s bodyguard
PLR16 with Red Lion Precision forend, Viridian X5L light/laser, Manticore Arms flash hider, Magpul Gen.2 20-rounder.
A-tacs camo works pretty well.
This Tavor uses a Gear Head Works forend that holds any 1″ light or laser (a Primary Arms tactical light with tape switch in this instance). The suppressor looks big because it’s a YHM .308 can mounted on a .223 … Continue reading

Iron sights for the win!
Keltec SU16A is an excellent example of .223 “light rifle” with 18.5″ barrel and long sight radius. Tech Sight peep improves on factory with repeatable adjustments, sight radius extended to 18.75″ and two apertures for short/long range. With M855 (62gr) … Continue reading
Effective night vision photography
I’ve done night vision photography in the past. It involved carefully placing an PVS14 monocular in front of a Panasonic LX3 or Canon 5D2 with 35/2 lens and doing long exposures from a tripod. Getting alignment between the optics was … Continue reading

Sharp-eyed little girl with a long reach.
Left-hand Ruger 77 in 223Rem under a 3-9x Accupoint. Hannah, age 12, was doing 150 yard head shots on a silhouette target with basic 55gr ball ammunition. When the zombies come, I am hiding behind her.
Photographer Matt at the range
Camera, rifle, good company — enough for a contented smile. When darkness falls and the Morlocks come out, he will be ready…if I remember the spare batteries.
Yesterday at the range.
(Photo by Matt Vollman) SU16 locked on an empty magazine. Trijicon Reflex strikes me as a good sight for a short-range defensive rifle — it’s always on and has a fairly wide field of view. Laser provides a backup solution. … Continue reading
Protect yourself. Protect your hearing.
For a professional musician like Lauren, firing an unsuppressed rifle can be a career-ending event. Rifle reports are all too close to concussion grenade (flashbang) noise levels. Taking them down by 28-40dB makes a big difference. So does wearing plugs … Continue reading
