A contemplative shooter
Today, several of my friends went for a shooting walk out to another friend’s farm. I love being able to continue chatting without plugs or muffs being required, shooting at clays and targets of opportunity all the while.
Substance and style
I think the appeal of lever actions is similar to the appeal of Steampunk and Victorian/Edwardian styles — functional enough to be useful, and intricate enough to be interesting. This one is a Henry carbine with really nice wood and … Continue reading

Color-matched weapons
It seems to me that companies making pink guns for adults are missing the larger point. Sure, some women who buy guns are also into pink accessories. But many more are after color-matched weapons and that could mean black, tan, … Continue reading

A good question.
This question has more relevance for cities and suburbs, especially given the occasional social disruptions like the NOLA and London riots. Unlike shotguns, rifles can reach out and touch a looter with an incendiary device in hand without the defender … Continue reading

Read my post about defensive guns in cold weather.
The loudest girl on this beach
Thompson carbine with 50 and 100 round drums.
Mutual support
Went to Horse Quarters with friends today. Took quite a few photos of horseback riding. Also got a little marksmanship instructing done. SU22 with PA micro dot (very useful as two of three shooters today were cross-eye dominant) and AAC … Continue reading

Navy Annie
Russian riverboat girls are tough 🙂 This one cleans up pretty well.
More photos taken through night vision monocular
Taken with ATN PVS14 and a Panasonic LX3. The camera was used at ISO200, so it added a bit of noise to the image. At base ISO, the exposure would have been 1/6s, going up to 200 allowed 1/15s at f2.5. … Continue reading
Another 9mm option: Just Right Carbine
JRC was ostensibly designed as a traines for AR15 users. The manual of arms is much too different for that, but it seems quite useable as low-recoil home defense guns and for those who like “cowboy logistics”, the commonality of … Continue reading

Pretty is as pretty does
I used to view vz58 as a quaint design roughly analogous to AK47, but uglier. I’ve since become a fan: the rifle is shorter than an M1 carbine and no heavier, while shooting a more potent round with mild recoil. … Continue reading

Rainier Arms rifle
Two things are special about this rifle: AXTS receiver with all controls duplicated on left and right sides, and the Samson rail is very light and makes for an excellent balance. Rainier | Samson | Dragon Leather holster
